A woman died Tuesday night after she was struck by a vehicle while leaving a home for a day-care visit, the city said.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Route 15 near the intersection of Route 40 and Route 50, according to a news release.
A woman in her 40s died at the scene, according with police.
“The collision was a tragic accident that occurred after the woman had left a home to return to the home for the day-caring visit,” said Jeff Wollersheim, spokesman for the city of Chicago.
A male resident of the home was not injured.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday for the woman, who was not identified.
Woller’s statement did not specify the nature of the injuries suffered.
A driver and a passenger were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
